August 20, 2014 Lots of Tuna East of Chatham

Just got in from a great trip out east. We went 3 for 3 with a nice 60" fish kept and a 48" and 55" released. We are coming in to the prime season, this is the time to get out.

Tuna bite on and a nice Thresher

The tuna off Chatham have been cooperating lately. Attached is a picture of a nice 70" Bluefin we landed this week east of Chatham. We also did a little sharking and got a 300lb. Thresher that gave us a great battle. They are pretty exciting for the captain when it is time to act as wireman! Got to watch out for that tail. The tail on this one was over 6'. Sharking can be a great way to finish a tuna trip. If you are interested in this let me know and I can have appropriate gear and bait on board. Striper are holding steady, we have found some good light tackle action around Monomy lately. The Savage Gear eels seem to be the preferred bait of choice.

Tuna Bite Improving Daily, Bass Fishing Excellent

The tuna bite is going strong off Chatham with large fish being caught every day the weather allows the fleet to get out. The bass bite is great, with big fish present in both the rips off Monomoy and the deep water east of Chatham. We are still open this coming Sunday and have a couple other openings next week so let us know if you would like to get out.

Tuna Bite Is On Off Chatham

The tuna bite has really turned on off Chatham with fish in the 72" and up class being caught, with multiple fish being hooked each trip. Unfortunately the weather this week has kept us from getting out and we have had to cancel several trips, but it looks like it will be improving for the weekend. If you want to get in on this action, we still have this Saturday the 19th open for a full day trip. We also have two anglers looking to share a full day tuna trip with two more people on Wednesday the 23rd, to make a four person trip. If you have been waiting to go until you heard the bite was on, now is the time to go!

Bass fishing has remained strong with good numbers of fish 20 pounds and up to be found in the waters east of Chatham, with vertical jigging on light tackle and trolling with wire both working well.

We’ve been busy with bass charters the last few weeks.  The bass fishing has been excellent, with some trips catching over a dozen keeper-sized bass up to 42 inches.  The fishing should be getting even better with the water around Monomoy warming up.
